When the odometer rolls over to 7,500, it’s one of the first big mileage achievements for your car. Hondas have a reputation for lasting way beyond that (many will make it up to 200,000 and beyond), and it’s because of proper maintenance and regular service at essential intervals. Your Honda likely won’t need any extensive care at the 7,500-mile point. Even so, now’s a great time to bring it in for a routine “checkup” to make sure it’s running strong and sound for many years to come. At Scott Robinson Honda in Torrance, CA, we’re able to take care of all your maintenance needs.
There are a variety of services that should be performed once your Honda hits 7,500 miles. To start, it’s time for your tires to be checked. Even the best tires will wear out, and now is a great time to check their tread and pressure. They should be rotated and balanced to help slow down the wear rate, or they should be replaced if necessary. While the tires are being looked at, the brakes should also be examined and adjusted as needed. Other services that will help keep your vehicle in prime condition include a battery check (including terminal cleaning), fluid check, wiper blade replacement, alignment check, and light check.
In many cases, a vehicle that recently hit 7,500 miles will also be due around this time for an oil change. However, it is important to take into account when the last oil change took place. Honda recommends that oil be changed between every 3,000 and 5,000 miles. So, if you drive regularly and had an oil change between 3,000 to 4,000 miles after purchasing your vehicle and haven’t had one since, getting an oil change at 7,500 miles is certainly warranted. The oil filter and cabin air filter should also be checked at this time and changed if needed.
It’s not uncommon around 7,500 miles for Hondas to start showing ‘B Service’ on the dashboard maintenance minder. This is nothing to worry about, but it does indicate that your vehicle is due for regular interval maintenance. B Service refers to the regular maintenance schedule that comes with a 7,500-mile service. Your vehicle will likely show this around every 7,500 miles just as a reminder, and a Honda service technician will reset it once the maintenance is complete.
